Camping tip: Led or Halogene?
The Amount of light
The Amount of light or the so called luminace is expressed in Lumen.
Important the factors, besides the amount of Lumen,for the experience
of amount of light are:
- the size of the light beam: broad beam versus narrow beam
- the type of reflector: as with MR11 and MR16
- the light colour: warm white versus cool white
Light colour
warm white 2700 - 3300K comparable to incandescent lamp/halogen light
white 3300 - 4500K comparable to fuorescent tube and energy saving bulb
cool white 5700 - 6200K comparable to cool daylight
Light Beam
The light beam of a Led bulb is indicated with the symbol on the left.
The narrower the beam, the stronger the illuminated surface will be enlighted (reading/work surface).
The broader the beam, the more the entire area will be enlighted (mood lighting/room lighting)
Ability to dim the Led light
Every individual Led in a Led bulb requires a specific voltage and current.
The ‘Driver’ in the Led bulb provides this specific voltage and current.
There are 2 types of Led bulbs in our assortiment: stabilized and unstabilized
- Stabilized Led Bulbs
The ‘ Driver ‘ has a stabilizing function, which due to higher or lower tension is
intercrepted by the ‘ Driver ‘ and the issued specific voltage and current for the ‘Driver‘ to the Leds
uniform and stable. As the stabilized ‘ Driver ‘ keeps the voltage and current to the Leds uniform and
stable, the LED lamp can not be dimmed. The life time and the functioning of a stabilized Led bulb is
for this reason, optimal.
- Non stabilized Led Bulbs
The ‘Driver’ doesn’t have a stabillizing function, and the higher or lower tenstion is not
adjusted by the ‘Driver’, which results in a possible variation of the issued specific
voltage and current from the ‘Driver’ to the Leds. The Led bulb is for this reason,
dimmable (lower tension is possible), but the life time can be shortened significanlty or the Led bulb
can even become defective, as a result of higher tension.
Benefits of Led
- No warm - up time, the Led will directly light up at full strength
- No switch-on time, the Led won’t flash when switched on
- With normal Led’s, the heat production is minimal, compared to halogen bulbs
- High light output at low power consumption
